Savour the French Cuisine While in Devon

You can savour authentic French cuisine while staying at one of the Dartmoor holiday cottages. Even if the Dartmoor holiday cottages have excellent self-catering facilities, you might want to skip cooking duties and just have a fancy meal at lovely French restaurants around. Of course, you can also feast on classic English meals, local delicacies, and Asian cuisines at fine dining establishments. It is a good thing that the Dartmoor holiday cottages will give you easy access to all the highly recommended eating-places as well as tourist attractions in the region. Check out La Fourchette Brassiere if you want to treat your family to a nice French meal during your holiday stint in the south west of England.

La Fourchette Brassiere

Step out from the comforts of your Dartmoor holiday cottages and spend some lovely time at this French place. La Fourchette Brassiere is renowned across the English Channel for its delicious and authentic French dishes. You do not have to travel all the way to Paris just to satisfy your cravings for creations with a French flair. Because La Fourchette Brasserie has built up a good reputation in Totnes, you can only expect top-notch services here as well as scrumptious dishes. No wonder La Fourchette Brasserie has been awarded the “best local restaurant” for the past two years.

Menu

The restaurant has a wide selection of food dishes to satisfy even the most discriminating palates. For starters, you might want to try some roasted duck breast (slivers with red peppers), Marseillaise fish soup (with gruyere cheese and croutons) or tenderloin of pork with pineapple brochette, sweet and sour dip and pilaff rice.

Main courses like the special duck leg confit (served with green beans, gratin dauphinoise and red wine) and the roasted chicken breast with honey (free range chicken with mash potatoes, spring onion and sun-dried tomatoes) are definitely worth a try. Even the roasted rump of lamb baked with green beans, pilaf rice, roasted tomatoes and Antibes crust, Devon steak frites with salad and French fries will make you sigh with pleasure.

Make room for luscious desserts like the warm treacle tarts, raspberry and meringue parfait, raspberry sorbet and chocolate brownie. If you are already full, you can just order a takeaway bag so you can enjoy it at the privacy of the holiday cottages.

Drinks

Only the best wines from France are served at the La Fourchette Brassiere although they are all reasonably priced. You can ask the chef to select one for you if you are not sure what to choose. There are six rare draught beers served here as well. If you want, you will be given 3 sticks with 1/3 pint of beer to taste and make your choice.

Opening Hours

The restaurant is open from Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Lunch is served from 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. and dinner is from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. You can enjoy a lovely French meal at this restaurant before returning to your luxurious Dartmoor holiday cottages.
