Fun Family Day-Out in Living Coast

The Fur Seal Cove

The Fur Seal Cove is a nice place to visit while you are staying in one of the holiday cottages. True to its name, large number of fur seals frequents the cove and adjacent shore regularly. It is designed to for the animals to laze around rocks or dive, swim, explore their underwater world and play with some of the toys that the people in Fur Seal created to mimic the natural habitat of these peddlers.

Featured animals thriving within the Fur Seal Cove includes the South American fur seal, barrow’s goldeneye and macaroni penguins. The most prominent of the seals include Grace, Oscar and Tunanta, Gringo and Luna—all from Hamburg, Germany.

The Waders Estuary

Another place within Living Coasts that will truly captivate the hearts of the young and young at hearts during your Torquay holidays is the Waders Estuary. The mudflats and sandy shores here serve as restaurants for the wading birds. Here, you will enjoy watching over 150 species of birds searching and hunting for food. Featured animals here include common redshank, pied avocet and black-necked stilt.

Waders Estuary is near most of the holiday cottages in town. It is open from 10 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon seven days a week. The only time it is close for visitors is every Christmas.
